A Zipper Install and a Bag on the side.

Not long ago it seams I found myself having more than one conversation on the simplicity and relative ease of making little stash bags, as I call them.  I tend to make these up pretty regular, as there are always scraps lying around.  Of course I make them and people swipe them , so it all works out I guess. Also, I had a stash of zippers that worked perfect here, and  . . . it is nice to change your makeup bag in your purse.  How often do we change purses and not that bag? Or not even wash it? Washing it . . . that is also easier when you have a new bag to put your goods into while sudsing the other up. Also, someone I know has never made a bag.  She's made bras, jeans, etc. but not bag.  I won't throw her under the public bus (but I did just email her this link), but I do hope she makes a bag for her purse now.  ;) These bags, well . . . Yup, the contents of my bag.  The blue tin: my sewing kit.  The red...

One Hour Convert and Have a Beer

Because #jennyandjulielearntosew and  . . . well, jeans to a skirt are fun and easy.  Jenny, I think, requested the directions.  And . . . a couple of other people I know.  A handful of years ago I started doing this upcycle, and every couple of years I hack a new one.   I call this one a "One Hour Convert" as it takes about an hour . . . that's with the beer.  So, it's a perfect little piece of instant gratification and . . . a good use of jeans a smidge too snug, with too high a waist, too low of one, etc.   This tutorial falls under my hashtag #ivebeendrinkingandsewing, as some have noticed this summer.  Eh, American legal ease of society tells me I need to say the following: Drink at your own risk.  Be responsible.  I do not condone being a lush.  Though, I also do not drink nearly as much as I think about it or probably should.  That being said, one or two drinks and I'm good to go on the occasions I have them. ...

Jenny and Julie Learn to Sew: 411s if you will.

So, I went to Kentucky and then . . . well, I fell off the side of a frozen lake or somesuch.  Though, in all fairness, the busy chaos of my life is good in many ways.  Sometimes it is hell, but . . . With that being said. Jenny and Julie Learn to Sew.  Yes.  Yes. Though, they are learning via my friend Nat right now. Last weekend Nat came over to, literally, learn  to sew on the machine.  I let her use my trusty Bernina . . . what? It is sweetly quiet compared to the, ahem, loud  Singer.  Besides, when Bernie was in my Momma's possession--all those years--someone (and it may or may not have been me) may have taken her apart a few times for quick and dirty repairs.  So, I felt confident.  It all worked out.  Of course, it worked out as I was like . . . shit, I need to post a basics 101 before uploading my Have a Beer One Hour Convert pattern.  So . . . a few 411s for ya, as these are the basics of the basics.  Why?...
