Planning for Seams and Seams for Planning

Aside from the numerous other things I have going on in my life, and all of the writing I do professionally and for shits and giggles, I sew.  A lot.  As any of you know that read this blog. . . duh.  Well anywho, a slew of people have been messaging asking me how in the hell I can keep up the pace, make so much, and well . . . be on target for what I want to wear.  So, here's my secret: a list.  A detailed list. I should note my sister sent me the leather notebook for my Birthday.  I think it came in handy, as a list and repository for my sewing and other disasters.   Of course, I use it for detailed notes on patterns that I later blather to you about.   The swatch is on the back of that page . . . unlike below where there was enough room to put in on the front of the page.  Sometimes I stitch the swatches into the book.  Just depends on what hour of the day I finish something and how lazy I am.   See, a...

Well now . . .

Fair warning, you can scroll down to the pictures if you must. At this point I have to wonder if Mood Fabrics even wants my business, or well anyone's business.  Seriously. Case in point, I have 150 bucks to spend.  Twas a birthday present.  I intended on depositing the check tomorrow, on the way to campus.  Well . . . since I really am on a tight budget I would like to order the material (as A) I know what I want and B) well I'm on a budget).  I want to get about 5 yards of silk (two different prints) and four yards of lining.  There is enough to get some knit for a top and a sweatshirt. My silk ain't cheap, but let's face it . . . we all must be creative when it comes to laying out pieces on high end fabric. Yet, whenever I put something in my cart and go to find the lining, a second print, the cost of a fucking needle the contents of my cart disappear.  Then, then . . . I say hey, ya know, maybe I'll set up my online account now.  Perhap...

So I'm a few days late with Me Made May . . . May has FIVE weeks . . . ugh.   To make it up, here's a pic of the cupcake pin cushion I drafted a few years back (it fits inside a bobbin carousal, by the way) and the mini tomato I did up today . . . scraps of course.  Today's has steel wool to keep the pins happy.  Cuteness makes everyone smile.   Without further ado: Saturday: Well . . . you saw part of it here , but there was more. There's an odd looking photo of me--not at the market, but odd in everything else--wearing a Colette Ginger, version three on the bias in Amy Butler Lark.  A thrifted Seattle Blues jacket, a Stella and Dot scarf, and a crappy shirt that I sent to the Goodwill bin.  Birks too boot.  Oh, my grey and purple Cosmo is a staple of Farmer's Market shopping as it holds an unbelievable amount of goods, books, and everything else. That jacket . . . when I was small and still in Seattle all the kids had that b...
