Things I Did This Week

Image
Things I did this week: 1. On Friday I went and saw my long time friend debut in his first off-off Broadway play. Our paths have traversed since our college days involving copious amounts of beer and cheap vodka (okay, I was the connoisseur of pure rot gut cherry vodka and Pepsi (we were a Pepsi campus) and he was the consumer of Natty Light . . . and yes, Natty Light trumps the swill cherry vodka I poured down my throat for nastiest of the super-fly po man's brews.   Hands down.  Sorry.  Not Sorry.).  We realized after the show that for the first time in our decades plus evolution I got to watch him on stage and didn't have to do anything back stage. Yea, twisted not-so little secret . . . I was theater tech back in the day.  Haven't done anything with it since some point in my mid 20s I'd guess. Like a jackass, I forget to get a pic of our mugs but rest assured . . . The Actor's Theater held a great three-day run of Exodus's first play Murder...

Hoodies, Fall, and Confines of the Body

Hoodies and Fall go hand in hand.  Well, hell, hoodies tend to be a good wardrobe staple anyway you shake it.  So, I set out to make my new favorite one . . . the Sol Hoodie by Jamie Christina.  To make it I used some grey ponte knit that I got from Mood (and yes, I paid for it), some tissue knit lavender/pinkish for the hood lining, a metal zipper (I think plastic ones on hoodies are A) pointless, as they break quicker than pigs eatting slop and B) look cheap (sorry, not sorry).  I had some ribbon trim my Dad bought me on our excursion to Mood in August, and I used that.  Yea, when I got it I told him that I wasn't 100 percent sure what I was going to do with it.  Yea, Dude, I always knew.  I just wasn't going to tell him that I was planning to use 15 dollar a yard trim for a hoodie.  Ha.   I can't tell you how many times I've worn it since finishing it . . . two dozen maybe? And it's only been done a week.   After runnin...

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Image
Since my postings got changed last week, I updated this one before I posted.  Enjoy. As I've made note, around here , that I absolutely love fall it should be no surprise that the changing of the leaves bring an indescribable delight to me.  Along the way, though, the summer rolled into an Indian Summer that we relished as we saw extended tomatoes at the farmer's market and went kayaking another time.  The bliss of summer extended for a momentary limbo of extended transition. Night kayaking along the Hudson . . . the city really does look like a Gotham delight here.   Those yellow jackets do us no favors, but the water was sublime . . . gentle rolls of tidal splashes from boat traffic and seasonal change made the warm salty Hudson lap onto our kayaks.  Rocking us along.   In the moonlight I look like your ghostly captain.   The Tania I never blogged about here, in a fabric my Mom gave me from her stash.  It's grossl...
