Me Made May: Week Two
It's week two of Me Made May . . . are you tired of seeing my mug yet?
Day One, Monday (since I left off with Sunday, a hungover day post Derby madness).
It's an Amy Butler Barcelona (the basic A-line), with Lotus fabric (from her), and a Renfrew top. Scarf: Modcloth, now dead as I ripped the damned thing in the wrong spot. Ring: from a trip to Istanbul. Yay, me on ripping that scarf in an irreparable way. When I got up that morning I wanted to wear my Colette Juniper Pants, but . . .
Yea, that sweat wearable muslin, with perfect matching plaids, is now too big. I am certain Goodwill will find a lovely person to love them like I did for the past few months. The skirt needs taken in a half inch, which I'm doing right before I go to Kentucky for week in June. Skirt did make me happy all day. For the record: I stuffed my shirt (a Renfrew) in my pants for the photo.
Day Five, Friday (a day of grading and writing and . . . )
Day One, Monday (since I left off with Sunday, a hungover day post Derby madness).
That's the Colette Sorbetto, altered. I inverted the pleat, sewed it two inches, and did the rest the same. That shirt is the skirt I hacked up . . . I mentioned that about three posts ago, I think. I love the shirt; Mr. Fairytale seems to heart it too. The shirt is a total win. The skirt, well it gave me that shirt. Jeans: Express.
Day Two, Tuesday (also known as the last day of class for the semester).
I posted this one on Instagram and Facebook, and from the reaction . . .well, I love the dress too. I have another one with purple polka dots (sorta). It's The Staple Dress, by April Rhodes, in Anna Maria Horner fabric. On this one you can see I did a bit of shearing at the waist (just enough, three rows). My other version only has one row. Both beauties have pockets. Boots are Matisse, and I bought them on clearance three years ago. Tights: Modcloth.
Day Three, Wednesday.
That's the Amy Butler Liverpool Tunic pattern, with some vintage buttons, and in her Love fabric. I was lame and made it like the package picture. But, I was so cool that I lined up those flowers like a pro! Jeans: Express. This is another one of those lounge the house makes, I think. It is cute, and in the fall I could probably wear it with boots and tights on the weekends. But . . . I'm on the fence a bit with it. It was comfy while grading.
Wednesday evening I went to a show with an old friend and wore jeans and a Renfrew with an Express blazer. Didn't take a pic because I forgot, and well . . . the guy that was in this video was my show buddy for the evening, and we were more concerned with the prospects of his audition, him moving to my town (NYC), and our own flashback of watching Michael West in Newsical and remembering him wearing a diaper and wings in When Pigs Fly a gazillion years ago.
Day Four, Thursday (now known as OMG will it ever stop)
Here's the lazy, groovy one from Instagram and then . . .
Day Five, Friday (a day of grading and writing and . . . )
And here we have an Amy Butler Cabo Halter with Colette Iris shorts. Shorts are from scrap fabric, even the pockets, and I am not a fan. They were fun to make, but I don't like how the pockets sit on me. So . . . when I made them I misread the pattern and made them too small. Two plus months later the loss of some chunkage makes them fit. Eh, around the house, to the laundry mat, and on car rides . . . they are good for that. The top is Anna Maria Horner fabric. I do love this pattern.
I have some better shots, but technical difficulty is plaguing me today. Beat. Head. Against. Wall.
Of course, this outfit at the corner laundry got me pissed off as some dude decided to stand so close to me, refused to move, and I banged my head on a dryer door. Yea, buddy. Take a photo since you've never seen a woman in a halter and shorts in 80 degree weather. Chump.
So, two weeks down (of about three) for May Made. Yup. I had said I'd make five more things . . . well, two Renfrews, a pair of Thurlows (wearable muslin that I hate the fabric but the pants are fucking cute, coming soon for your preview), my Derby Shirt, and next week is the construction of my anniversary dress. Yup. All is good . . . I need more knit shirts though. And those Thurlows: more. More pants and shorts versions. Basics are good to make . . . you wear them more than a party dress, for sure.
With that being said . . . off for another week. This weekend we'll be in CT, so you can snicker that there will be photos outside of my bedroom and kitchen. Oh wait, you had my stoop too this week. ;)
