May Me Made, Week One
So, I'm a couple of days late getting the first week posted . . . shoot me later. I've been busy. Finished that book review, on a good book of theory . . . just a bitch to write. Finishing my own book, grading, more grading, one round of final grades posted, and a Derby party all played into the mix.
But, here goes:
May 1st
And, yes, these photos are shitty. It was Friday night, cut me some slack.
May 5th: Post Derby
I'm sorry to say that on Sunday I didn't wear handmade, as I was too hungover to sport anything but yoga pants and a tank top. Not sorry I drank enough bourbon to cause a shortage in NYC.
And that's week one.
But, here goes:
May 1st
So fresh from a run, I showered and posed . . . That's my Lotus top, from an Amy Butler pattern. I've altered it twice, and well . . . as you can tell it is roomy and too big on me. I made it in January, and I've lost a little bit of chunk since then. So, it was fun while it lasted, but after three alterations off to Goodwill it goes. Below is a photo of how badly it bellows. Ugh. Oh, don't judge those shorts. I never wear them out of the house, and I can fit in them. Couldn't wear them last year. Whoo hoo.
May 2d
After a day of teaching and advising, with some writing to boot. The skirt is the Amy Butler Barcelona, with layers. Top: a cheap thing from Target.
May 3rd
A pair of Express Jeans and a Renfrew. If you haven't tried that pattern you so should. Making basics might appear silly, but honestly these shirts fit me better than anything I've ever bought. Oh, I forgot to buy twill tape so I used ribbon. Ribbon . . . well that just makes it fun on the inside. And the belt is from Little Earth, and it is made from recycled metal in a vintage World War II design. Also, it is up-cycled as I bought it on Ebay years ago.

May 4th: also known as Derby Day.
So I've got on Express Jeans again, but that shirt . . . Well, it is really the Taffy pattern from Colette Patterns, but I hijacked the design and did my own thing. I omitted the sleeves, bound the edges, used scrap knit (from a Renfrew) for the back, and trimmed it with some lace I got for free from an Etsy seller. I made it Friday afternoon, as I decided I wanted a Derby Day shirt. So, this is my Derby Shirt. I do very much love it.
