Corny Road Warrior

Somewhere in here I might have forgotten to say that I'm running a 5K on 22 November. It's for the Arthritis Foundation, and this run is the Richmond, VA leg of the Jingle Bell Run. It's gonna be cold, I know. Probably not a keen mix for a Lupus girl, one with Raynaud's and Fibromyalgia, but it's all good. Arthritis goes with Lupus, you should be able to figure out why I know, so this one means something more than just making me get out the door everyday. I also have the obligatory obnoxious running hat and gloves. You know . . . goofy colors so that when you are chugging along the side of the roadway no one can miss you.

See, here's proof I'm full force into the running train game again:

I'll have my 30 minute time back by then. Trust me. Those that have experience with me and the running know. . . been doing it for years. While I'm not stealer, I am funny when I get going.

Looking at this you will see that my running times suck, but hey . . . I'm getting it all back. More so, this past weekend I decided to use the treadmill at the hotel. You guessed it: Nessa went flying across the room. We all knew something stupid would happen when I began running again (or as I like to call it, slugging down the side of the road while rocking out to my slightly psychotic brand of tunes).

Oh, no more treadmills. You will all be glad to know that I am back in small town America and jammin' on the side of the road for free and independent of the need for energy to fuel my workout machine.

Now, Nessa must go buy new shoes. A) I've never cared for the Nikes, B) I thrashed them over the summer in the Cape and on a cliff walk on LI, and C) I finally figured out how to make the iPod chip work without the Nike shoe. YES! Back to my Asics. Never takes much to make me happy.

Later this week I'll tell you how the only Democrat in the room refrained from giving the Old Men Republicans heart attacks. Yes, there was booze involved. I shake my head.

I've always liked running on the road better than on a treadmill. I can never get my pace right on motorized ground. :/

Good luck on your run!!! It's a great cause. :)
